• Online Middle School Chemistry Resource

    Updated: 2024-03-31 21:18:05
The ACS Education Division has developed a new middle school chemistry resource, "Middle School Chemistry: Big Ideas about the Very Small." This free, six-chapter resource can serve as either a stand-alone chemistry unit or as a supplement to any middle school science curriculum. "Middle School Chemistry" uses a hands-on inquiry approach along with specially designed molecular model animations, to take students from concrete experiences to an understanding of the world of atoms and molecules. Share this free resource with middle school teachers you know.

  • Re: Does acidity increase or decrease as you go down a group?

Thank you. And yes you are right. I got confused in the case of HI and HBr. I guess I was confused with the acidity of a single atom such as F- vs I-, which makes I- more acidic due to its stability. bsp

    1. Write a balanced equation for the cell reaction (always the first thing you should do). What are the exponents of the concentrations in Q?2. E° is the standard cell potential, not electrode potential. What would E° be if both concentrations were the same?3. ΔG° should be in kJ/mol, but if the question gets it wrong, what can you do?4 & 5 - haven'#039t checked calculations, but method looks correct.
