Hey folks! No I have not fallen into my dreary pit of doom again.  I am doing well, just busy, busy and I figured that last video would keep you entertained for a while. New pots coming out of the kiln later today. I’m very excited about them all.  And I’m getting ready for some [...]

  • Beginning to End. Goat Portrait

    Updated: 2011-08-25 14:41:51
Shot this video yesterday. I really feel like the drawings are beginning to come into their own.  After about 8 cups I really began to loosen up and get some nice action in the lines and expressions. www.youtube.com/watch?v=--RaEi0Ceik Of course I want to make sure that I’m making good forms right from the start.  I [...]

I shot these two clips showing pots getting drawn on, layout and working towards some finished etched pieces.  I’ll try and write a bit more about this and what I’m thinking as I do this soon.  For now here are the videos. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X9p3SpJapk   www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZbiF6wnrDs

I’m pretty sure we walked every main thoroughfare and rue in Old Port, Le Village, Plateau Mont-Royal, St-Denis, Mile End, Chinatown [...]

  • Making a List.

    Updated: 2011-08-16 14:08:54
Sometimes it’s good to do a prototype before trying something new.  I had the idea for this candle stick holder the other night while in bed and I did a sketch so I wouldn’t forget it.  So yesterday I threw this together just to get a feel for the  scale and where the drawings may [...]

  • In remembrance of Margaret Olley

    Updated: 2011-08-16 07:32:12
Much of what I do is inspired by other artists, Margaret Olley being no exception. I seem to gravitate towards older artists… those who are prolific long past their 70s. Olley was 88 when she died at her home in … Continue reading →

  • New Site Design In Effect

    Updated: 2011-08-15 02:01:30
Welcome to Pottery Making Info: version 2.0!  In my free time over the last few weeks I’ve been working on  re-designing the site.  The original site was functional but I wanted to spend a little more time on the aesthetic value this time.  It still won’t win any awards but it seems to be an [...]

Our kitchen faucet pretty much blew apart last night as we were getting ready to do the dinner dishes.  It was about 11 years old and had seen it’s better days I think. I took it off the sink and today we went to the hardware store to get another one.  We also decided to [...]

  • Video. How I Slip a Plate

    Updated: 2011-08-11 23:24:58
Hope this helps some of you out there.  This technique could easily be used when glazing also. Spinning the plate takes some practice.  You could practice with a bisque plate and water just to get the feel of the motion and the pouring.  Notice I don’t move my pouring hand/cup.  Just the plate moves and [...]

: Monday , August 8, 2011 Getting to Know You- Uneven Firing Use Witness Cones . That's all I can say . Get to know your new friend . Loaded the kiln with witness cones- as I am in the early days with this new kiln . I knew that there was a cool area but this is a bit wacky . I will call and get some phone help to see how to even things out . nbsp Here are the photos from the kiln as I unloaded it . I had some WINNERS in the areas of the kiln that reached temp so I am very happy . A few others will need refiring but I can live with that . nbsp Top to Bottom of all 4 sets Posted by P.Bridges at 6:33 AM Labels : cones fired 0 comments : Post a Comment Older Post Home Subscribe to : Post Comments Atom Go to BRIDGESPOTTERY.COM Subscribe Here Subscribe in a reader DON'T MISS OUT .
