I made a few more Animal pots/sculptures today.   I am having fun with these, maybe too much fun in the case of that Turtle.  Still, it’s good to try something new and I’m not taking these or myself very seriously at the moment.  That can only be a good thing I think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N40b_4p40Q Hopefully I can [...]

    Updated: 2011-06-27 10:06:00
: Monday , June 27, 2011 KILN installation Cleaning out the garage and doing the work needed to put the kiln in place was HUGE . Thanks to my handy hubby every potter needs one he spent the entire weekend doing all of the required work . nbsp All of that crap that we have accumulated extra pots , wood , sand toys , broken pool noodles . nbsp Some of it we just can't get rid of , we are a family of multiple seasons of sports and big on stuff . nbsp The last job was mounting and installing the vent for the . kiln For those of you either installing or thinking about installing a kiln listen up . It's not hard , just time consuming . The instructions that came with the kiln and vent were basically all good and easy to follow even if you have never seen a kiln . Since this is not my first kiln

  • Pots in use this morning.

    Updated: 2011-06-23 20:46:45
This morning I had my tea out of one of my favorite mugs.  This mug was made by Joe Bennion of Spring City, Utah.  Joe’s pots were some of the first salt glazed pots I saw when I began down this road.  His pottery and methods of selling pots influenced me greatly.  I have several [...]

  • Geometric Design

    Updated: 2011-06-23 17:44:50
Geometric design for textile grew out of movements such as Cubism, Futurism, De Stijl and Dada.  The need was to move away from pictorial presentations toward a metaphysical and universal language of form and colors. In 1920s, Sonia Delaunay explored interrelationships between form, color, shape and value. Sonia Delaunay’s “Color — Continue reading…

I felt like a little kid when the giant Fed X truck pulled up to my house . Making room for it is a job in . itself It's so shiny and scratchless . After a while you forget how they look new . nbsp Will be ordering the shelves and other stuff today . nbsp I have decided to go with the lighter more costly shelves Corelite . Will report back on these shelves as I have heard only good things thus far . I have stripped the packing materials and inspected the kiln and it looks great . They did forget to drill the kiln for the vent but that is a small task so my handy husband has offered to do that albeit I fill out a work order The electrician is coming shortly and he will

  • What was your dinner served on tonight?

    Updated: 2011-06-23 02:08:31
I am always taken off guard whenever we go to someone’s house for a meal and we get boring dishes that came from a department store or that they picked up second hand somewhere. (Or even worse, paper plates and plastic cups!)  I guess I’m so used to eating and drinking from handmade wares that [...]
