In this issue: Seth Rogen, producer and co-star of the new cancer comedy 50/50 with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is on our cover to talk about auditions, his early career, and turning a personal story into a funny film. The recent Screen Actors Guild elections, which determined control of SAG's New York division, turned out to be less surprising than many predicted, with incumbents retaining their seats and a merger between SAG and AFTRA on the horizon. Back Stage's "Spotlight on Los Angeles Acting School & Coaches" examines the pros and cons of studying from a working actor, as well as listings...

Many actors have a closed mind when it comes to further training. I don’t blame them, they secretly know that the techniques they were taught in the past, didn’t really work, but because of this, they’ve developed their own way … Continue reading →

  • Big Comedy Projects Abound

    Updated: 2011-09-23 01:18:20
Summer is over, and everyone has a sad. The skies are overcast, there are no cherries on the shelves of your local supermarket, Starbucks is already pumping people full of pumpkin spice lattes, and the new fall shows have begun their plodding, inexorable march toward cancellation. But not all is lost! In these times of downcast eyes and frownie faces, we look to the studio production executives, who, having donned their brightest tunics, prance through the studio backlots greenlighting comedy projects, spreading good cheer, and throwing BlackBerrys at their assistants’ heads. Callooh! Callay! First up is “Rivals” from Warner Bros.,...

  • 'Sesame Street' Spoofs 'Glee'

    Updated: 2011-09-22 20:48:40
"Sesame Street" found the perfect way to teach children about the letter 'g': by spoofing 'Glee' and Journey. In this hilarious sketch, the G Club is preparing for G-gionals with their coach Mr. Gooster. When gym teacher, coach Sue, comes in to taunt their singing and obviously make fun of the gel Mr. Goo uses. The G-eerios argue with the G Club about the sounds the letter 'g' makes, and of course muppet Rachel brags a lot about her singing, with muppet Mercedes giving her a run for her money. Oh, and muppet Kurt wants more glitter!

In this issue: Captain American himself, Chris Evans is on our cover to talk about his early career, his worst audition experiences, and how he transitioned from playing a superhero to a flawed hero as a drug-addicted lawyer in the new film Puncture. In Back Stage's "Spotlight on Headshots and Marketing," headshot photographers in New York and Los Angeles discuss what makes an effective headshot. Tyler Labine has been acting since he was 9 years old, but you probably still only know him as "that guy." That could all change this month, when he stars opposite Alan Tudyk in the...
